People I Have Admired

1. Roberto Clemente- Born on the same day as yours truly thirty years earlier. He was my favorite player as a child growing up. Though he passed on when i was 7, i still remember what a great player he was. He could do it all run, throw, hit and hit with power. It turned out that Roberto was a greater human being than player. he gave his life for other people.

2. Dale Earnhardt - Many people know Dale as the hard headed tough driver he was. I look at what he done outside the track. He was what God calls a cheerful giver. He gave money and done things as the Bible tells you to. Don't let the left hand know what the right hand is doing. One instance that came out after his death was, he saw a local school having a fundraiser to blacktop their parking lot. Dale stopped and asked what they were raising money for and the people involved told him. He said i'll pay for the whole thing on one condition, if you tell anyone i did this i'll have my workers come bulldoze in in if you do.

3. Ronald Reagan- Probably the single most important President of my lifetime. Ronnnie had a vision of America as a shinning city on a hill. America never apologized for being great. He had a pride in this country like few have today. You may not agree with everything he did or said , but you have to agree America was a proud nation under him.

4.Billy Graham- We may never have a more well rounded ambassador for God than Billy. I couldn't imagine how many people have come to Christ because they heard him speak. I was lucky enough to see him in person in Kansas City on his last crusade. I was dumbfounded not by Arrowhead Stadium being full but i would say at least 60% of the people were younger than myself. many of them in their teens. These people had probably never seen him when he was on T.V. in the 60's and 70's. It just goes to show the power of his speaking that all those people would go listen to him. I'll never forget what he said that day. " your lucky i'm old and can't speak very long or we would be here for several hours." Even in old age and illness his spirit was still willing to preach the Good News.
